The happiest of festive seasons to all you vintage lovers!
December has crept up on us and quite frankly, we can't believe where the year has gone. One things for sure, it certainly hasn't been a quiet one!We thought we'd share with you what we've been up to these past couple of months and although we're a vintage wedding band based in Cheshire, as you'll see, we tend to end up anywhere but local! Well, it's an excuse to see the country, that's what we say!
One performance we just had to tell you about was pretty special. We headed up to Ripon to perform for a wedding in the grounds of Jervaulx Abbey, a Cistercian Monastery now in ruins. It was the most fantastically unique place to tie the knot and to top things off the weather was PERFECT. When having an al fresco wedding, there's always the danger of the British weather not quite playing ball (especially in Yorkshire), but there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
We particuarly loved our changing room at this venue... rustic, we think you'll agree!
We also absolutely loved this wedding, because all of the guests were in vintage dress... a wedding party after our own hearts, that's for sure. There was no shortage of flapper girls and dapper guys sipping on champagne and enjoying the vintage entertainment.
We were so delighted to be invited back to The Magic and Mayhem Festival in Corsham, Wiltshire. The debut festival was such a success last year that they brought it back for 2016 and with a bill including Clare Teal, Jenny Eclair, Paul Zenon as well as the critically acclaimed Mayhem Cabaret, we were honoured to be performing amidst such incredible acts.
We took to the stage along with the amazing London-based swing dance troop, The Grasshoppers for the quirky tea dance and just loved watching those closet Lindy-Hoppers leap from their seats and dance the afternoon away!
We had a ball and would love to say thanks again to the fab dancers.
Our last performance of 2016 took us to another tea dance, this time at the opposite end of the country in Colchester. This fab family party also had dancers and once again, we were treated to amazing dances from the Charleston to the Balboa, to the Collegiate Shag that kept the dance floor full from the very first second to the last...
All in all, it's been quite the year! We can't wait to see what 2017 has in store, but for now, it's time to hang up the dresses, pop our feet up and crack open the mince pies and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Lots of love,
The Harmonettes x
