Summer Time with The Harmonettes
Thursday 14th July 2016
What an amazing few weeks it's been here at Harmonettes HQ! We've been all over the country from Southampton to Suffolk, Ripon to Romsey, leaving a trail of Vintage Entertainment in our wake!
It's been so brilliant to perform at such a variety of events from birthday parties to weddings and we've met some truly lovely people along the way. So we thought we'd share with you a few of our summer highlights...
We recently performed for a joint 70th and 90th birthday party on board the SS Shieldhall, a vintage steam ship docked down in Southampton. What a fab idea to have a party on board a ship!
We performed our first set as the guests boarded for the champagne reception and what a lovely surprise it was for them! And then we set sail around the solent for an afternoon of gentle sailing....or so we thought! Turns out, the solent can be a little rockier, and windier than we had anticipated and wearing big 1950s swing dresses meant that we had one or two Marilyn Monroe moments on the top deck of the good ship Shieldhall! Some of the guests got a little more than they bargained for that afternoon!
So we quickly moved all our equipment to the lower deck, and performed our second set in the safety of a sheltered spot! We (and we're pretty sure some of the guests!) won't be forgetting that day in a while! But in all seriousness, it was a fantastic day and we wish the birthday boy and girl all the best - see you at your joint 100th and 80th?!
We then packed our bags and headed North East to the little town of Easton near Ipswich and the gorgeous Easton Grange. We absolutely adored this venue - a beautiful modern barn conversion, it made the perfect day for Helen and Hayley's big day and it was such an honour to perform for the new Mrs and Mrs Cloud.
A particular summer highlight of ours, though was performing at the absolutely stunning Notley Abbey - a country house wedding venue in Buckinghamshire, this place blew our socks off. A totally magical place to tie the knot, we just loved performing our vocal harmony sets al fresco for Deborah and Jonathan. Plus we think we rather suited the venue...
We can't wait to see where the next few weeks will take us...one thing's for sure, there's never a dull moment when you're a Harmonette! Please do give us a ring and book us if you'd like us to perform for your wedding or event - we still have some availability for 2016 and would love to sing for you!
